Introduction to the Sermon Chat blog

This blog is created to develop a dialogue on Sunday’s sermons so that we may absorb and apply to our lives the message that God is speaking to us at Spirit of Fire. Each week I will submit my notes that I take during the sermon as well as combining them with those handed out on Sundays. Because I am writing my notes, they will be subjective. If there are any corrections or additions that you care to add, please present them in the comments. I am hoping this will develop into a useful tool to help us build spiritually and keep our focus throughout the week. Please share any thoughts, revelations, questionings, or ways that the teachings are applied or affecting your life during the week. Be aware that this blog will be read by others, so only post what you want others to see. No restrictions (that I can think of at this moment) except please keep to the subject and do not ramble far from the original topic of the sermon. I imagine as we develop this dialogue that it will refine itself to be most useful to us. Your comments will make it come alive. Please participate. It might be useful to check this blog at the time you daily check your e-mail, as a way of keeping the message in your heart throughout the week.

I wrote the following summary of a way to absorb the sermon and make it relevant to our lives and offer it here for whatever way it is useful to you. You may use it or not. Just some ideas:
What did the sermon (or the page) say to me?
What are some of the main points?
How do I apply it to my life?
What part am I going to hide in my heart today?
What would I title it?
What scriptures do I remember?

May God bless and form this blog into a tool to be used most effectively for His glory!

  2. I lover this sundays sermon. I belive that Pastor was right, that we have become caloused, we have been told that God loves us so much that you shake your head yes he dose, and don't really think about it. Two weeks ago I was doing dishes and listening to Joy radio station, and this song came on, I wasn't having the best day and a song came on that I have heard a bunch of times I am not sure of the name of it but it says "I am loved by theKing, andit makes my heart want to sing" I was singing along with it and all of a sudden I was in awe! I AM LOVED BY THE KING! I got goose bumps! Because it hit me.
